Peace, Love & Fashion

Friday, February 27, 2009

On Thursday, March 12th, 2009 The Art Institute of Seattle (AIS) will present their 11th annual fashion show “Peace, Love, & Fashion" at The Showbox SODO.

Every aspect of the production from lighting and set design, to marketing and promotion, guest services, public relations and of course, the runway collections have been created from concept to execution by students at the college.

“Peace, Love, & Fashion is an opportunity for students to experience the electric energy of a major runway production,” says Executive Producer and Fashion Instructor Joan Kelly. “Not only does the show provide them with a great opportunity to develop their design and production skills, but it also allows them a fabulous opportunity to be a part of one of Seattle’s premier fashion events.”

AIS Alumni Blayne Walsh from Project Runway Season 5 will also make a special appearance at the show as one of the event judges. Additional judges for the event include actress/model Josie Bisset, Gisela Manning, Owner of Ragamoffyn’s Boutique, Laura Cassidy, Editor of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, Ali Basye, Editor of Seattle Bride Magazine, Justin McKibben, President of Kibbn Designer Children’s Store, James Zachodni, Editor of D-List Magazine and Andrew Burkhardt, Booking Agent for Seattle Model’s Guild.

Tickets are $20.00 through

Lamborghini Woman Shoes. Delux Series.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Are Lamborghini woman shoes made for walking? Lamborghini Seriously Hot Heels.

Everybody knows how fleet-footed a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is on the road - and now it is on the footpath as well, literally. There are the first track-biased high heels in the world.

The carbon fibre heeled woman shoes are the work of a brilliant designer and member of the CGSociety called Tim Cooper, who modelled them on a pair of his wife's high heels using a large handful of Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera images. The CGS - if you want to know - is a group of artists who specialise in 3D modelling and computer generated imagery.

Of course, no one with taste and propriety would ever want to wear these shoes - or even letting them anywhere near their house - but they are still a very clever piece of rendering. The level of detail is quite amazing - so much so, in fact, that there's a chance someone may take matters a step further and actually make them. We hope not...

It's Never too Early to Make a Style Statement

Friday, February 6, 2009
Children might not have a lot to say when it comes to verbal communication but they can send a powerful message when it comes to their style statements. Suri Cruise became America’s little darling when photos of her wearing a fashionable Burberry sundress on the playground splashed the pages of gossip magazines. This caused a major demand for designer play clothes in Hollywood and the trend is still going strong and spreading all the way up to Seattle.

This year instead of designer duds, celebrity moms are outfitting their babies in organic apparel. Rumor has it that Jessica Alba’s daughter Honor is wild about organic onesies from Seattle-based clothier, Kate Quinn Organics. The line includes kimono-style bodysuits, dresses and even baby outerwear in an earth tone color palette that is oh-so-sweet.

Kate Quinn Organics has been featured in USA Today, Seattle Magazine and Baby Couture. The entire line of products is made from 100% Certified Organic cotton, which is grown using sustainable farming practices.

The Kate Quinn showroom is located in Kirkland at 431 6th St. South. Business hours are M-F from 9:00am to 5:30pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:30pm.

It's All About...The Industry

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Yesterday Seattle menswear boutique, The Industry, celebrated their third birthday. Launched in February of 2006, the store has seen their share of trends cycle through the fashion industry and they work hard to edit their product assortment in order to stay relevant in this tough economy. The bright colors from last spring have now been replaced by tonal flannels and a sea of black and charcoal gray knits. The grunge movement might just be back, and when it comes, The Industry will be ready with their assortment of brands including Howe, 1921 Denim, William Rast, and RVCA. Right now however customers are just, “Asking for the basics, including straight leg dark denim,” says co-owner, Angela Kantanto.

Each month The Industry features a local charity and donates 10% of their profits through the sale of featured brands in the store. This month’s brand is Penguin so when you purchase any product from their line, 10% of the sale will go directly to The Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation.

Stop by the store on Saturday, February 7th from 5-8PM to help celebrate The Industry’s birthday. You’ll be treated to delicious confetti cupcakes, refreshments and most importantly, 40% off everything in the store.

The Industry is located at 1826 6th Ave. (between Stewart and Olive).

Pop Diva Madonna Keeps Shocking Us!

Summer Spring 2009
fashion collections of Rodarte, Givenchy, Thakoon, Narciso Rodriguez and Herve Leger proved that "surgical corset" turns into fashion trend. As we know Madonna is a big lover of fashion trends, but this time it seems like Madonna laid it thick a little.

In promotional photo session of her album Hard Candy Madonna was dressed in something that didn't look like clothes. I would say it was stylish "surgical corset".

Maybe Pop Star Madonna just forgot that what looks sexy at the age of 35 is not very attractive at the age of 50...
